Serenamente caminhe entre o barulho e a pressa,
e lembre-se de quanta paz pode haver no silêncio.
Não se humilhe,
mas atenda com educação a todas as pessoas.
Fale o que você pensa calma e claramente;
e ouça o que lhe dizem,
mesmo as coisas tolas e estúpidas;
todos merecem ser ouvidos.
Evite gente barulhenta e agressiva,
que só lhe trazem aborrecimentos.
Não se compare com os outros,
Isso pode torná-lo vaidoso e amargo;
sempre haverá pessoas melhores e piores que você.
Comemore suas conquistas e faça planos.
Orgulhe-se de seu trabalho, por mais humilde que seja;
ele é sua âncora ante as incertezas da vida.
Seja cauteloso nos negócios;
pois o mundo está cheio de trapaceiros.
Mas não deixe que isso o torne cego para as boas oportunidades;
muitas pessoas lutam por altos ideais;
em todos os lugares, a vida está cheia de heroísmo.
Seja você mesmo.
Principalmente, não finja afeto.
Nem seja cínico sobre o amor;
pois diante de toda insensibilidade e desencanto
ele é tão perene quanto a grama.
Aceite com tranquilidade a passagem do tempo,
conservando o frescor da juventude.
Cultive a força de espírito para protegê-lo das adversidades da vida.
Não se angustie com pensamentos sombrios.
Muitos medos brotam do cansaço e da solidão.
Cultive uma vida saudável, cuide de si mesmo.
Você é uma criança do universo,
não menos importante que as árvores ou as estrelas;
você tem o direito de estar aqui.
E mesmo que não esteja claro para você,
não há dúvida de que o universo está em constante evolução, como sempre.
Portanto, esteja em paz com Deus,
seja qual for a sua concepção dele,
e quaisquer que sejam suas tarefas e aspirações,
nesta vida confusa e agitada,
esteja em paz consigo mesmo.
Com toda essa falsidade, lutas e sonhos desfeitos,
tem ainda o mundo muitas belezas.
Cultive a alegria.
Busque a felicidade.

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
